Axons

Axons are part of the structure of neurons, the cells that make up your nervous system. Think of axons as the electrical wiring of your body’s communication system. They’re long, slender projections of a nerve cell, or neuron, that conduct electrical impulses away from the neuron’s cell body. The function of the axon is to transmit information to different neurons, muscles, and glands in the body. In essence, axons are the “transmission lines” of the nervous system.
