Serotonin

Serotonin is a chemical your body produces that’s needed for your nerve cells and brain to function. Often referred to as the “feel good” hormone, it helps regulate your mood, appetite, digestion, sleep, memory, sexual desire and function. Serotonin levels in the brain can affect how you feel – if you have enough of it, you feel content and happy, but if you’re lacking, it can lead to feelings of sadness or depression. It is also involved in the functioning of our cardiovascular system and muscles. Therefore, balanced serotonin levels are important for overall health and well-being.
