Presynaptic neurons

Presynaptic neurons can indeed be likened to messages in a mail room, waiting for an action potential. In this analogy, the action potential is akin to the signal or command that prompts the ‘mail room’ (the presynaptic neuron) to send out its messages (neurotransmitters). When an action potential arrives at the presynaptic neuron, it triggers the release of these neurotransmitters into the synaptic cleft, much like dispatching messages from a mail room. This process is fundamental in the transmission of signals across the neural network, facilitating communication between the brain and the nervous system.
